2022 DLOC International Rally
Wednesday 15th June to Sunday 19th June 2022
The DLOC International Rally 2022 will be held in the historic Roman city of York
The northern English city of York wears its 2,000 years of history lightly. The city's Roman, Viking and Medieval hertitage, its relics, monuments and architectural treasures are woven into the fabric of everyday modern life. Markets in the same squares and stalls they have occupied for hundreds of years, views of one of Europe's greatest Gothic Cathedrals crop up in the most unexpected places. The city is scattered with exceptional black and white, half-timbered buildings on streets like The Shambles, a street mentioned in the Domesday Book that has been a commercial center for 900 years.
York Minster is one of the world's largest Medieval Gothic Cathedrals, only Chartres, in the Loire region of France, is larger. This architectural and artistic masterpiece took more than 250 years to build. It is filled with unique and fantastic carvings and the greatest collection of intact, Medieval stained glass windows in the world.

At leisure in York
Take your time to stroll around York and soak in the atmosphere of this incredible Medieval town built on Roman foundations. There is a short and frequent bus journey into York's medieval centre (please don't try to drive, the traffic is very heavy and slow and there is a risk for old cars to overheat and it's impossible to park).
Visit the National Railway Museum (highly recommended), the Treasurer's House, walk the Roman Walls, take a river cruise, visit the Castle, The Castle Museum and the Jorvik Centre to learn about York's Viking heritage.
Wander through medieval streets like The Shambles, find the snickleways, visit the Gates to the Town and have tea in the world famous Betty's Tea Rooms. At every turn, you will see the massive towers of York Minster but try to resist visiting just yet as we have a real treat on Saturday - a private tour.
There are thousands of things to do in York and the "Visit York" website is full of ideas. Fill out the request for the Visitor Guide and a thumping great tome will arrive in a few days, full of ideas and information.

Group visit to Castle Howard
Castle Howard is the magnificent country house about 15 miles north of York which featured in the renowned TV series, Brideshead Revisited. Taking over 100 years to complete, it is truly enormous and was created by the same architect behind Blemheim Palace.
We have organised entry at a special rate and so we need to arrive more or less together and go through the fast track door - yes they get that many visitors! Once inside you are free to wander and admire the vast palace and artworks and maybe pretend you're Charles Ryder or Lady Marchmain.
Our route out will be by the fastest route but there's a fabulous scenic tour for you to follow back to the hotel.
Special entry rate : £17.00 Please book early with us.

optional - York Guided Walking Tour
A masterpiece in stained glass and stone, York Minster is one of the world's most magnificent cathedrals. Since the 7th century, the Minster has been at the centre of Christianity in the north of England. The Minster is also known as St Peter's, its full name is the 'Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York'. The first Christian church on the site has been dated to 627 and the first Archbishop of York was recognised by the Pope in 732.
Experience the vast spaces and breathtaking medieval architecture, discover the Roman roots and learn about the Minster’s role in Viking York. Explore the cathedral’s rich history, from the Roman Emperor who changed the course of Christianity, to the fires which threatened to destroy the cathedral.
We are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity for a conducted tour of the Minster with an expert guide.
The guide has now offered an 1 hour walking tour prior to the tour of the Minster for a small additional cost. Please book this separately.

The Main Event - the 56th DLOC 2022 International Rally
Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington Airfield is the largest independent aviation museum in the UK.
With a 3,000m runway, it will be familiar to viewers of "Top Gear" as the site of Richard Hammond's 250 mph crash. However, we won't be driving our cars on the runway! We will be on display right in the heart of the site where members and the public can browse and appreciate our fine vehicles.
There is a marvellous collection of aircraft from a Wright Flyer to many Cold War aircraft - and there's even a real Atomic Bomb on display (well, OK - just the shell, but scary enough). The museum has a Daimler Dingo Scout car and we hope that it will join us on the day.
It's a dog-friendly site with lots to see and do and the NAAFI is something else - a 5 Star TripAdvisor recommended cafe.
Rally Entry, Programme and keepsake: £25.00 per car
