Shelsley Walsh CLASSIC NOSTALGIA 2020

Classic Nostalgia returns to Shelsley Walsh 20-21 June 2020

Classic Nostalgia makes a welcome return to the Midland Automobile Club's Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb on the weekend of 20 – 21 June 2020.

The annual flagship event is a firm favourite on the racing calendar.  The action-packed weekend attracts a wide variety of competition cars competing on the historic hill climb course, spectacular themed vehicle displays, celebrity drivers, parades, visiting car clubs, trade stands and non-stop live bands.

For 2020, Classic Nostalgia will celebrate the swinging sixties – a decade which saw a revolution in popular music, daring fashion, innovative technology and cool cars!

The weekend will feature a mouth-watering display of iconic 1960s historic race cars, thrilling demos, motor racing legends, a themed racing class, Group B rally cars and a special ‘Made in Britain’ display.

Speaking on behalf of Lotus Cars, Motorsport and Drive Programme Manager Stewart Croucher said “Shelsley is steeped in racing history. Our professional team of racing drivers are looking forward to putting some of our models through their paces. Some of the current Lotus range such as the Elise, Exige and Evora will be present”.

In keeping with the theme, the ‘Made in Britain’ display will pay homage to British-built cars of the 1960s. Evoking an era when the Aston Martin DB5 was immortalised in the James Bond film Goldfinger, and the Jaguar E-type referred to as “the most beautiful car ever made” by Enzo Ferrari, it will epitomise the glamour and excitement of the swinging Sixties. Central to the family favourites will be the iconic Mini that helped transform fashion and the Ford Cortina - the most popular car in Britain.

Lastly, who doesn’t love a party? 2020 marks 115 years of motor racing history at Shelsley Walsh, staged continuously (wartime excepted) since 1905. Get on your dancing shoes - it will be a right ‘knees up’ in the Courtyard as Haney’s Big House and Jon Clare and the Dough Boys will be belting out powerhouse classics.
