A masterpiece in stained glass and stone, York Minster is one of the world's most magnificent cathedrals. Since the 7th century, the Minster has been at the centre of Christianity in the north of England. The Minster is also known as St Peter's, its full name is the 'Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York'. The first Christian church on the site has been dated to 627 and the first Archbishop of York was recognised by the Pope in 732.
Experience the vast spaces and breathtaking medieval architecture, discover the Roman roots and learn about the Minster’s role in Viking York. Explore the cathedral’s rich history, from the Roman Emperor who changed the course of Christianity, to the fires which threatened to destroy the cathedral.
We are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity for a private conducted tour of the Minster with an expert guide and to follow, an optional Walking Tour of the City.PLEASE NOTE: Because the Minster gets crowded we have been advised to visit as early as possible,
so a 9am depart from the hotel, a bus will be provided at the cost of approximately £2 per person
